More than 40 medium-sized mixed-breed dogs accepted by Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services as a result of an apparent hoarding case on Wax Road are now all up for adoption.
All animals appear to be in good health, except for a few eye and skin irritations and have been fed well.
Most of the dogs appear to be under two years old, which shows how quickly overpopulation can occur if you don’t get your pets spayed or neutered.
All 40 dogs have been examined and given vaccinations, deworming, and flea treatment at the shelter.
The new PAWS facility has allowed them to take in such a large number of animals at one time. There simply would not have been enough room at the old Mathis Road site.

They are open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
