Two Arrested for Theft of Property 1st Degree – Officer Receives Injuries While Making Arrest

WEIS Radio News has been informed that Leesburg Police Investigator Jamie Chatman was injured in a traffic stop around 10:30 Sunday night.

Chatman pulled over a pickup occupied by two subjects on Weiss Lake Boulevard at Adrian Gwinn Street in Leesburg, and during the course of the stop, he became involved in a scuffle with the driver of the vehicle – and, as a result Chatman was transported to Floyd Cherokee Medical Center by Floyd EMS, for the treatment of what was described as “minor injuries”.

A motorcycle stolen out of Cullman County was recovered.

Those placed under arrest at the scene included the driver, Jessie Cambron McKinney, 40 of Crossville and 44 year old David Bone of Sand Rock.

McKinney was charged with Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree Theft of Property 3rd Degree, Driving while Suspended, Improper Lane Usage, and Driver’s License not in Possession.  Bone was charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree.

Both remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Bond for Bone has been set at $5,000 while bond for McKinney has yet to be set.

Centre and Cedar Bluff Police officers responded to provide assistance along with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
