STAFF REPORTS

Volunteers will gather at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill Thursday to serve up turkey, dressing and all the fixings.

The 31st annual Thanksgiving Love Feast provides a good meal for anyone in need, according to organizer Rev. Terrell Shields.

“We’re not just talking about a person who may just be financially needy and cannot afford a dinner,” Rev. Shields said.  “We’re also talking about anyone who may be emotionally needy, like someone who had a death in the family and they are all alone.  For these people, the holidays can be a depressing time.  Rather than be all alone come and be with some people.”

Over 3,000 meals were served last year.

Again this year, volunteers will also be handing out coats and jackets for those who need warm clothing.

The Love Feast is Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
