Two murder trials are underway in Floyd Superior Court this week.
John Robert Mostiller was initially arrested in June of and charged with aggravated battery in the beating of Joseph Richard Dye at the Royal Inn on Martha Berry Boulevard.
That charge was upgraded to murder after Dye succumbed to his injuries.
Mostiller is also being tried in connection with the rape of a woman that reportedly occurred a couple of weeks before the incident at the Royal Inn.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Wallace Junior Chambers Jr. is standing trial in the shooting 74-year old Johnny Lewis Price on Hardy Avenue.
That incident occurred in May of this year.
