(Story and Photos Via WZQZ Radio) In a split-decision on Thursday evening, the Chattooga County Board of Education voted to give interim school superintendent Jared Hosmer a three-year contract.

Hosmer has been serving as interim superintendent since former School Superintendent Jimmy Lenderman stepped down earlier this year over a disagreement with the Board of Education over the four-day school week.

Three board members voted in favor of offering Hosmer the contract, with two opposed.  Board members Brad Hayes, Sammy Ballard and Eddie Elsberry voted in favor of Hosmer with board members Dr. Julia Houston and board chairman John Agnew voting against the measure.

Hosmer has been with the Chattooga County School system for twenty-four years and has served as assistant school superintendent for the past seven years.
