Rome City Schools Press Release –

Big smiles covered the faces of West Central Pre-K and Kindergarten students as they were surprised by a special visit with the Grinch.
In celebration of National Grinch Day (December 1) and the 25 Days of Grinch-mas, students at West Central have been busy reading and watching Dr. Seuss’s classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

In an effort to encourage young readers to “grow your heart three sizes,” teachers invited the Grinch to participate in storytime, where students could learn the true story of how the Grinch
stole Christmas from all of Whoville. And who better to tell the tale than the Grinch?

Summer Vega, a student at West Central, assisted the Grinch during his interactive story by playing the part of Cindy Lou Who. “I thought the Grinch was very funny and nice. He was not
mean at all,” smiled Vega.

Other students couldn’t wait to hug the Grinch and show him hats they made during class, which featured a cartoon drawing of the Grinch colored by the students themselves.
Students Noah Parker, Isabella Cato, Nhi Ho, and Hallie Woodrow proudly wore their hats as they posed alongside the Christmas character for a picture. “That was fun, I didn’t think he was scary at all,” said Nhi Ho as her friends all nodded their heads in agreement.

“The Grinch is funny!!” smiled Hallie Woodrow.
