On this WRGA Community Spotlight, we take a look at Harbor House, a nonprofit child advocacy center in Downtown Rome Georgia.

We spoke with Harbor House Executive Director Joe Costolnick about how they impact the community in the video below:

Harbor House provides a child-friendly environment, for children involved or affected by abuse or crimes, where investigators can conduct a forensic interview them (in a way that is not traumatizing or disturbing to their development, but still provides evidence for criminal cases).

They work directly with outside agencies to discuss criminal cases that involve children, to ensure that no case falls through the cracks or is left behind.

Harbor House also provides therapy for children impacted by abuse or crime, and also provides families with Crises Coordination.

Since Harbor House is a nonprofit organization, to continue their mission, they rely on Donations like:

Snacks and Drinks (for the children being interviewed or receiving therapy)

Copying Paper and toilet paper

Child-friendly Artwork

New Toys

–  Monetary Donations (from companies or individuals)

Any Students seeking internship opportunities can volunteer their time at the Harbor House as well.
