Rome City Commission to recognize Officer of the Year tonight

The Rome City Police Department’s Office of the Year will be named Monday night.

The recognition of the officer of the year is among the agenda items for Monday’s Rome City Commission meeting.

The commission will also conduct Second Reading of a Tax Payment Ordinance.

The ordinance states that anyone seeking a special use permit or zoning change on city property shall submit a certification from the Floyd County Tax Commissioner’s Office indicating that all taxes are paid and are up-to-date.

A proclamation regarding Teen Dating Violence Awareness requested by the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia and recognition of Black History Month are also on the agenda for the meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
