Cedartown man killed in Wednesday morning wreck

A Cedartown man was killed Wednesday morning after his vehicle struck a semi tractor-trailer head-on.

The wreck occurred at around 4:50 a.m. on Highway 27 near Adams Road north of Cedartown.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 1993 Honda Accord driven by 76-year old Charles R. Samuels was traveling northbound in the left lane.

A tractor-trailer was traveling in the left lane of U.S. 27 southbound.

A second tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane of the southbound highway.

The Accord struck the front of the first truck and caused it to swerve into the right lane.

It then struck the left side of second truck and caused it to leave the west side of the roadway.

Samuel was transported to Floyd Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:09 a.m.

Neither of the truck drivers were injured.
