A man was transported to the hospital Thursday morning after he was struck by his own vehicle on North Hughes Street in West Rome.

Officer Michael Bridges with the Rome Police Department said an unoccupied Ford Explorer was in drive and was going around in circles.

The owner, while on foot, tried to stop the vehicle and was struck.

A Good Samaritan saw what was going on and used his Ford F-150 to ram the SUV to keep it from traveling onto Shorter Avenue.

The owner of the Explorer was taken to the hospital with external injuries. He was also being checked to see if he has any internal injuries.
