Rome Federal Courthouse Closed until further notice: Worker hospitalized for possible COVID-19

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT : NORTHERN DISTRICT OF GEORGIA

Rome Georgia’s federal courthouse is now closed until further notice as security officer for the court has been hospitalized with symptoms being treated as a presumptive positive for COVID-19.

The Court Order says the following:

“The Court having been informed by the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia that a Court Security Officer in the Rome Division has been hospitalized with symptoms being treated as a presumptive positive for COVID-19;

and Having been further informed that said Court Security Officer was on duty in the Rome Courthouse throughout the week preceding his hospitalization and during that period was feeling ill; and Having been informed it will be several days before COVID-19 can be confirmed as the illness;

and The duties of the Court Security Officer having brought him into direct contact with Court and agency staff throughout the courthouse as well as members of the public entering the courthouse; and In order to ensure to the extent possible, the health and safety of judges, court and agency staff, and members of the public from further exposure to or  spread of the disease;

ORDERED, with the concurrence of Judge Harold L. Murphy, United States District Judge for the Rome Division, and with notification to the GSA Building Manager, the United States Courthouse and Federal Building for the Rome Division is closed until further notice.”
