Police respond to shooting at E. Elm Street in Rockmart

Rockmart Police Department –

The Rockmart Police Department issued the following press release on friday afternoon:

“At 1:02pm, a male walked into DK’s food mart and stated that he needed an ambulance for a male that he shot across the street at 505 E Elm Street.

He then left the store and walked back across the street. A deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in the area and immediately encountered the male who walked into the store asking for help.

The B/M told the deputy that he shot “Q” twice. The deputy and other responding officers walked up to the porch of 505 E Elm St and saw a B/M who had been shot in the abdomen area. He was still alive and responsive.

Deputies from Polk S.O., Redmond EMS, Rockmart Fire and Rescue, officers from the Rockmart PD and Polk County PD administered first aid to the victim and detained the shooter.

The shooter was identified as B/M Marshall Crews. Mr. Crews lives at 505 E Elm St. The victim was identified as B/M Quenton John Thomas Eutsey. Mr. Eutsey was transported in an ambulance to a landing zone to await pickup by a life flight helicopter.

He was flown to Atlanta Medical Center for the treatment of his injuries. Mr. Crews was taken into custody by Rockmart PD.

The GBI and Rockmart PD Detectives are currently processing the crime scene location at 505 E Elm St.

We are still gathering the facts and will know more later about what caused this situation to escalate.
