Police looking for leads in the shooting death of a Shannon woman

Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a Shannon woman earlier this week.

According to Sgt. Chris Fincher with the Floyd County Police Department, 57-year old Laura Regina Ross called 911 at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

She was screaming and dispatchers could not understand what she was saying.

The phone then disconnected.

Officers were sent to the Baker Street home and found Ross, with a gunshot wound.

She was transported to Floyd Medical Center where she died at around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.
