Rome City Commission meets Monday

The Rome City Commission will consider several agenda items related to Tax Allocation District funding for a new hotel that would be located adjacent to the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College when they meet Monday evening.

Developers are seeking a $1.72 million TAD for the 92-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriot hotel.

Under a TAD, net new property taxes go back to the developer for a certain period of time to help defray development costs.

In this case, the TAD would be for 10 years.

In other action, commissioners will consider a resolutions for water pollution local limits and discuss a Walker Mountain C & D Landfill Closure Task Order as well as a Corrective Action Plan for the former Fox Manufacturing Property on East Callahan Street.

First Reading of a rezoning request for proposed duplexes in Summerville Park is also on the agenda.

Developers are seeking to rezone 201 and 203A Redmond Road from Low Density Traditional Residential and Office Institutional to Duplex Residential for up to four duplexes consisting of up to a total of eight units.

Monday night’s commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

The caucus starts at 5 p.m.
