Initial unemployment claims decline in Floyd County

Fewer Floyd County residents filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance last month when compared to the month before.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, there were 1,895 claims filed in September compared to 2,099 in August.

There were only 362 claims filed in September of last year.

Initial claims in Bartow County fell from 2,123 in August to 1,875 in September.

There were 175 this time last year.

In Gordon County, claims decreased from 1,303 to 1,061 over the month, but were still up from the 156 filed in September of 2019.

Polk County saw more initial claims over the month, checking in at 975, up from 877 in August.  There were 122 in September of last year.

Chattooga County was also up with 186 in September, compared to 148 the month before and 23 in September of 2019.
