F & P Georgia announces $22.8 million expansion in Floyd County

F & P Georgia announced plans Tuesday for a $22.8 million expansion of their stamping and assembly facility located in the Floyd County Industrial Park….This expansion will create an additional 15 jobs.

“Rome and Floyd County have been a great home for F & P. We are proud to continue to grow our business here. We are also very thankful for the support of the people, government and Development Authority of Rome and Floyd County,” said F & P Sr Manager Nat Massey.

F & P Georgia is a Tier One automotive supplier based in Japan and has multiple locations in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The expansion will be to produce the front and rear subframe and other components for a vehicle to be manufactured at a new OEM.

The project will include modifications inside the current facility as well as new robotic production equipment and a 400-ton progressive metal stamping press to increase capacity and reduce the dependence on outside suppliers.

“This is great news for Rome and Floyd County and this expansion shows that our community is an excellent place to do business,” said Floyd County Commission Chairman Scotty Hancock. F & P Georgia located in Floyd County in 2000 producing Honda subframes and most recently announced a $31 million expansion in 2012. F & P has been named by Honda as one of its top suppliers.

“F & P Georgia has been an asset to our manufacturing community for two decades now and we couldn’t be prouder of their continued investments and job creation,” said Bill Collins, Mayor of the City of Rome.

Missy Kendrick, President of the Rome Floyd County Development Authority, made the announcement during their early morning meeting and commended the Georgia Department of Economic Development regional team of Tamara Brock and Taylor Kielty, along with the partnership of Georgia Power’s Elyse Davis.
