Northwest Georgia under Tropical Storm Watch

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Northwest Georgia including Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga, Gordon and Polk Counties as Tropical Storm Zeta moves into the area.

A Tropical Storm Watch means tropical storm-force winds are possible somewhere within this area within the next 48 hours.

Peak winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are possible.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has also issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of north-central Georgia, northeast Georgia, northwest Georgia and west central Georgia from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening.

Counties in the watch area include Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga, Paulding, and Polk.

Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected across north and northwest Georgia with locally higher amounts possible.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding.

Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
