Rome City Commission to consider emergency mask ordinance

December 7, 2020–10:33 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

The Rome City Commission will discuss an emergency ordinance requiring face coverings during a special called meeting Tuesday.

On November 30, Governor Brian Kemp issued an executive order authorizing city and county governments to issue a local face-covering requirement if they meet a threshold requirement.

That includes a 14-day average of more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents.

Rome and Floyd County were at 452 cases per 100,000.

The emergency ordinance would require facial coverings when social distancing is not feasible.

You can read the ordinance HERE.

Tuesday’s commission meeting begins at 11 a.m. via Zoon and Facebook Live.
