Floyd Medical Center set to begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to employees

December 17, 2020–6:46 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Floyd Medical Center has received its first allotment of the COVID-19 vaccines and will begin to administer it to employees today.

The first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine began arriving in Georgia earlier this week after the US Food and Drug Administration granted Emergency Use Authorization for it.

Because this initial COVID-19 vaccine supply is limited, The Georgia Department of Public Health is following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and prioritizing healthcare personnel and residents of long-term care facilities for vaccination.
