FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of threatening emails sent to several Floyd County employees regarding the voting precincts on Tuesday.

Similar threatening emails have been received by other counties around the state of Georgia.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been notified and are investigating the matter.

Prior to the threatening emails being sent, the Sheriff’s Office had already devised a plan to provide security for all voting precincts on Election Day.

Once the emails were brought to light, Sheriff Dave Roberson began working with the Rome City Police Department and the Floyd County Police Department to coordinate a plan for everyone’s safety while the polls.

All voting precincts will have deputies and officers stationed at them for security.
