Sheriff Roberson announces first promotions of his tenure as Sheriff

“Sheriff Dave Roberson is proud to announce the first promotions of his tenure as Sheriff.

Justin Oliver was promoted from Staff Sergeant to Lieutenant. Lt. Oliver is a 17 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has served in the jail division, warrants division, and court division. Lt. Oliver is an active member of the Rome/Floyd SWAT team and is being assigned as a Watch Commander for Jail Operations.

Robbie Whitfield was promoted from Corporal to Captain. Cpt. Whitfield is a 24 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has extensive experience in field operations and investigations. Cpt. Whitfield is an active member of the Rome/Floyd SWAT team and is assigned as Captain of Field Operations.

Allen Pledger was promoted from Captain to Major. Major Pledger has been with the Sheriff’s Office for over 24 years and has served in jail operations, field operations, and court services. Major Pledger is an active member of the Rome/Floyd County Bomb Squad and is now serving as our Jail Administrator.

Congratulations to all of these well deserving men on their promotions!

Sheriff Roberson also presented Retired Major Bob Sapp with his retirement badge. Major Sapp served with our agency for over 11 years as our Jail Administrator and over saw many projects that will benefit our agency for years to come.”
