Two arrested following pursuit in Northeast Rome

A Lindale woman is accused of fleeing from police while she was driving a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 20-year old Jasmine Marie Gonzales hit speeds of over 100 miles per hour as she fled from a traffic stop on MLK Drive at Washington Street.

She ran stop signs at Perkins Street and Calhoun Avenue as well as at Reservation Street and Burnett Street.

Gonzales then ran the red light at Calhoun Road and the connector before turning onto East Hermitage Road.

She then crashed the vehicle into a house.

Police say the license tag on the vehicle had been swapped and the vehicle had been spray-painted a different color.

Gonzales is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, fleeing or attempting to elude, concealing the identity of a vehicle, reckless driving, two counts of running a stop sign, speeding, running a red light, failure to maintain a lane, improper lane change, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.

A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year old Joseph Williams Wells Tapp of Rome was also arrested.

He is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
