The Floyd County School System plans to use funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to help get students caught up due to time lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the minutes from a work session earlier this week, Superintendent Dr, Glenn White shared plans with the Floyd County Board of Education to hire counselors, interventionists, and academic coaches.
Afterward, the board voted to approve the CARES Act budget plan to add these positions, so they can move forward with getting them posted and begin the hiring process.
Also during the work session, Dr. White briefly discussed possible future plans including looking at a new Coosa Elementary School to house students from Cave Spring, Alto Park, and Garden Lakes Elementary Schools.
Construction costs and other factors will have to be looked at before any decisions will be made.
Dr. White and the board will continue to seek input about other possibilities and needs of the system for a possible upcoming ESPLOST.
