GA DPH details expanded eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination

March 9th, 2021 – 4:45 PM

Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District –

Georgia has expanded eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination. For a detailed list of eligible individuals, go here and scroll down: https://nwgapublichealth.org/counties/

When vaccine is available, your local county health department is scheduling vaccination appointments for people currently eligible.

Call yours — The Northwest Health Northwest Health (nwgapublichealth.org) — to schedule an appointment.

Time for your second dose? Health departments are proactively contacting people due their second dose to schedule an appointment. However, if you’re not contacted, call the health department where you received your first to schedule your second. No need to call more than a day or two prior to the date on your vaccination card.

Vaccinations for educators and staff (Pre-K, K-12, DECAL licensed or exempt childcare programs) are currently being coordinated and administered in each of our ten Northwest Georgia counties with local school systems and community partners.

Georgia now operates nine mass vaccination sites. The closest one for Northwest Georgia residents is in Emerson, Bartow County, at the LakePoint Sports complex just off I 75. If eligible, go here to pre-register: MyVaccine (myvaccinegeorgia.com)

Other vaccine providers may be available in your community. Go here for provider locators: https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines continue to arrive in Georgia in extremely limited supply. Please be persistent and patient in seeking vaccine. Everyone who desires the COVID-19 vaccine will ultimately be able to get it.
