Update: Arrest made in Monday shooting

ROME POLICE

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday morning on the walking trail in the area of Dodd Boulevard and Highway 411.

32-year old Jeffrey Alfred Shedrick has been charged with aggravated Assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

Shedrick is accused of shooting 39-year old Scott Dennis Hayes in the head and back.

At last report, Hayes was listed in critical condition.

Rome Police are on the scene of a shooting that occurred on the walking trails in the area of Dodd Boulevard and Highway 411.

A ‘shots fired” call came in just before 10 a.m. and police found a male subject who had been shot in the head.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Floyd Medical Center.

At last report the 40-year old man was in surgery.

A lookout has been placed on a black, older model Ford Focus driven by a black female and a black male passenger.
