Flash Flood Watch remains in effect

March 25, 2021–8:16 a.m.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE

The Flash Flood Watch continues for much of North Georgia including Chattooga, Gordon and Floyd Counties through Friday morning.

Periods of heavy rainfall will spread into the forecast area this morning and affect portions of north Georgia. Rainfall will persist through Friday morning.

Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 3inches with locally higher amounts over 3 inches are expected.

Previous rainfall has kept soils saturated, allowing more easily for runoff and potential flash flooding.

Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks and inundate fields, roads, and property. Roads may be closed.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action

should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
