Redmond Regional Medical Center celebrated their 10,000th dose of the COVID-19 vaccine administered on Friday, March 26.
Redmond began their vaccine clinic in mid-December, administering the hospital’s first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to front-line colleagues at the hospital. Only three months later, Redmond recognized their Vaccine Team for their hard work and dedication in administering the vaccine to eligible members of the community with balloons, confetti cannons and cookies.
Dondra Crawford, clinical services manager with Redmond Occupational Health, and her team have been busy ensuring the success of the Vaccine Clinic since its beginning.
“The 10,000th vaccination marks a huge achievement for us and our community,” explained Crawford. “It is essentially a benchmark that we are using to propel us forward and continue to vaccinate the community at large.”
“Making this Vaccine Clinic successful has truly been a whole-hospital effort,” said Crawford. “None of this would work without everyone’s involvement, and we are incredibly lucky to have such great professionals on board with us here. “It’s also a multi-departmental effort,” Crawford continued. “We receive support from food and nutrition services, EVS, our housekeeping staff, IT, maintenance and more. Without them, the clinic would not be nearly as successful. I would just like to say thank you so much to everyone who helps to make this clinic work. We couldn’t do this without them.”
Audie Britton, pharmacy director for Redmond Regional Medical Center, stated, “Reaching this 10,000th dose mark is amazing, and I am so happy that we have been able to vaccinate members of our community throughout this unusual time.”
Britton’s role in the Vaccine Clinic is coordinating doses. “I am proud to be even a small part of this journey, working with such a great team at Redmond,” he said.
“The team behind the clinic has never once said, ‘no, we can’t do this.’ It has always been, ‘how can we make this happen,’” explained Britton. “Also, the support we have from our CEO, John Quinlivan, is second to none. From the very beginning, his goal was to reach as many people as possible. We are carrying out the hospital’s mission, and I am proud to be a part of that.”
Stephanie Jenkins, Sonographer/MA with Redmond Regional, was busy preparing doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. “Our community has been very thankful, and it is so rewarding to be able to play a part,” smiled Jenkins. “Last week, I had someone hug me after receiving their vaccine and said to me, ‘thank you. Now I will be able to go and see my grandchildren.’
“It is so important to us that this process is as fluid and easy as can be,” she added. “You come in, you get it done, and then you leave. It has been a great process and we are so thankful to everyone for all their involvement. Like our mission statement says: ‘Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.’”
Redmond continues to focus on providing quality care to the Rome community and surrounding areas by providing free and convenient access to COVID-19 vaccinations.
