CARTERSVILLE POLICE REPORT

A Cartersville man was arrested early Thursday after pointing an AR-style rifle at a police officer

According to the Cartersville Police report, the officer had been dispatched to a residence on Green Ives Lane in reference to a hit and run.

The officer knocked on the door several times and identified himself as a police officer.

The man inside, 34-year old Blake Ryan McAlavy, told the officer “You’re about to get a gun.”

The officer backed away and McAlavy swung the door open and pointed the rifle at the officer, who then drew his service weapon.

McAlavy walked back into the house and then came back to the door, holding his hands in the air with the rifle still in his left hand.

McAlavy eventually dropped the gun and was arrested.

He is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and hit and run.
