Bartow County deputies arrested a man who allegedly drove towards officers and rammed through a fatal crash scene.

Georgia State Patrol and Bartow County deputies worked the fatal accident that killed 34-year-old Shirbert Stubbs of Rome on Joe Frank Harris Parkway at Cut Off-Road on Monday night.

A cream-colored 2005 Chrysler 300 approached a patrol vehicle from the rear faster than all other traffic. The Chrysler then moved over to the left side of the northbound side of U.S. 41 and passed by the marked patrol vehicle in a small area of the road that was left open for emergency vehicles and then accelerated again.

Two deputies stopped the Chrysler approximately 200 yards ahead of the crash site.

As soon as a deputy began speaking with the driver, 36-year-old Paris DeShun Scott of Cartersville, he said he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.

As soon as the deputy walked back to his car, Scott reportedly accelerated toward the fatal accident scene.

The deputies who initially pulled Scott over had to scream at deputies standing by their vehicle for them to move. The deputies in danger were able to move before almost getting struck.

The Chrysler then went back towards the accident scene, coming very close to colliding with two troopers and actually destroying multiple pieces of evidence in the roadway as it drove through it.

During an ensuing vehicle chase, the Chrysler reportedly crossed the double yellow line on Mac Johnson Road, causing it to wreck as it attempted to make a right turn.

Deputies initiated a felony stop and arrested Paris Scott.

He received charges for four counts of aggravated assault, six counts of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers, tampering with evidence, driving with a suspended license, failure to obey an authorized person directing traffic, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, and fleeing a police officer.
