Chattooga County now under a Winter Storm Warning

A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for Chattooga, Walker, and Dade Counties from midnight tonight until midnight Sunday.

Heavy wet snow is expected in the warning area.

Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with lesser amounts in the valleys.

The majority of the snowfall is anticipated Sunday, with just a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow possible after midnight tonight.

Gusty winds of 20 to 35 mph at times will accompany the wintry precipitation.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for Floyd, Gordon, Bartow, Polk, and Paulding Counties from midnight tonight until midnight Sunday.

A mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow will eventually become all snow by midday Sunday before ending late in the day.

Total snow accumulations of up to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

Ice accumulations of up to 1/10 of an inch will be possible, with locally higher amounts on the east side of metro Atlanta.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect from midnight until noon Saturday.

Sustained winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected.

Locally higher gusts to 60 mph are possible, especially in the higher elevations of north Georgia.
