Man flees from police, ends up with four flat tires

POLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT

A 41-year-old man is in custody after leading police on a chase in Polk County.

It all started around 11:30 p.m. Monday when the Rockmart Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Kia Sedona on Highway 278 / Industrial Drive.

The vehicle failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit began.

The vehicle pursuit continued to Highway 278 and came into the City of Cedartown.

Officers were able to set up Stinger Spike Strips at Highway 278 / Lindsey Chapel Road in an attempt to terminate the pursuit safely.

As the vehicle neared Highway 278 / Lindsey Chapel Road, the suspect vehicle struck the spike strips.

The vehicle, after hitting the strips, came to a stop near Cedartown High School.

The driver (identified as Vincent Sweeting) was taken into custody by the Rockmart Police Department without incident.
