Four honored Thursday for their efforts to fight elder abuse

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month and on Thursday night members of the community who are deeply committed to fighting the abuse and neglect of Rome and Floyd County’s elderly citizens were recognized.

Recipients of the Pat King Award were Miriam Little with Harbin Medical Oncology, Sandy Kunneman with the Floyd County Victim Witness Office, Natalee Staats with the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office, and Tony Yarbrough with the Rome Police Department (pictured).

The awards were presented during a ceremony at AdventHealth Stadium.

Past recipients of the Pat King award which recognizes individuals in their fight against abuse and neglect of Georgia’s elderly citizens are:

Amber Lopez/Floyd County Police

Misty Pledger/Floyd County Police

Brittany Werner/Floyd County Police

Brandon Trapp/Synovous Bank

Members of the North Georgia Elder Abuse Task Force, Northwest Georgia Area Agency on Aging, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd County, and Rome Police Departments were also recognized during Thursday night’s Rome Braves game.
