Paulding County Sheriff’s Office –

Paulding County Deputies have arrested a man for the murder of his friend that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday. The victim, 38-year-old Dane Michael Patrick Kellum, and some friends went to visit 47-year-old David Ayers May at his home located at a Mill Pointe Drive address. In the midst of an evening of reported heavy drinking by all of the parties who were at the home, there was a verbal argument between Kellum and May. Apparently, the altercation between Kellum and May became more heated, and May reportedly retrieved a pistol and shot Kellum in the head. Once the shooting occurred, Paulding E-911 was contacted and Deputies responded and arrived quickly, but Kellum’s injuries were beyond help. May was arrested without incident and is being charged with felony murder & felony aggravated assault. He is currently being held in the Paulding County Jail without bond.
