Four people were transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center with minor injuries following a rollover crash Thursday at the intersection of New Calhoun Highway and Veterans Memorial Highway.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

A 2017 Dodge Caravan driven by 60-year-old Barbara H. House of Plainville was traveling northbound on Highway 53. She told police she was talking with a passenger and glanced at her. As her eyes returned to the road, she noticed that the light was red.

The Caravan collided with a 2017 Honda CR-V driven by 78-year-old Billy L. Mathis of Rome, which had the green light on Veterans Memorial.

The Caravan rolled and came to rest facing north on Highway 53 while the CR-V came to rest facing west on the connector.

House was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

She and Mathis, as well as the 26-year-old passenger in the Caravan and a 12-year-old passenger in the CRV all complained of injury and were taken for treatment.

The wreck occurred just after 5 p.m. Thursday.
