Two charged in connection with a shooting Wednesday night

Two Rome men are facing charges in connection with a shooting incident on Brandon Lane off Smith Road that occurred late Wednesday evening.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Trayron Marquez Bexley and 20-year-old Tahiri Durand Tolbert were part of a group that was present when a firearm was discharged, and the 27-year-old victim received severe injuries from gunshot wounds.

Bexley and Tolbert were part of a group that discharged a firearm from a moving vehicle, striking the victim’s residence twice.

They are also accused of entering the victim’s home to commit an assault and battery.

Bexley and Tolbert are charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, discharge of a firearm near a roadway, criminal damage to property, and burglary.

They were initially arrested Thursday morning on charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

That report stated that police found a stolen handgun, high-concentrated THC oil, and multiple packages of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop on Smith Road at Manning Lake Road.
