Flood Watch lifted for Floyd County

Most of the rain has moved off to the south of Floyd County, meaning a Flood Watch that was in effect has been lifted.

Just under an inch of rain has been recorded at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in the last 24 hours.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 p.m.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for Paulding, Cherokee (Georgia) Haralson, and counties to the south of them.

According to the Severe Weather Outlook:

Additional heavy rainfall is ongoing across portions of central Georgia that should come to an end later this morning. Flash flooding will remain possible. Flooding of creeks, streams, and rivers is ongoing in some locations and will continue to expand this afternoon. Please remember to avoid flooded roadways. Turn around, don`t drown. A Slight Risk is in effect this morning for portions of central Georgia. An isolated strong wind gust or a brief tornado is possible.
