2025 is here and as we look ahead to the New Year, we also reflect on 2024 and some of the top stories of the past year, which included campaign visits from both Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, a decision on the location of a new reverse osmosis water treatment facility, and the start of work on the Second Avenue widening project.
Other big stories were the continued construction of the new Rome Middle School, a groundbreaking for the NOVA project on West Third Street, and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Helene.
Area residents also got a view of the Northern Lights in 2024, and the Atrium Health Floyd-Harbin Clinic merger was finalized.
