We are less than a week away from the annual Leprechaun-a-thon 5K and Health Walk, presented by Atrium Health Floyd.
The event will be this coming Saturday, March 15. The USATF-certified race will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by the health walk at 6:45 p.m.
Participants will traverse portions of the Kingfisher Trail and levee trails before finishing on the pedestrian bridge near the Town Green and The Forum.
Race highlights include a pre-race costume contest with three exciting divisions: Littlest Leprechaun (ages 5 and under), Most Festive Leprechaun, and Best Leprechaun Group.
Special awards will be presented to top finishers in various age groups, including overall male and female winners, masters, and grandmasters categories.
Registration is available online at runsignup.com, with 5K entry fees at $30 and health walk at $25. Group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more, with special group rates of $20 for runners and $15 for walkers.
The event promises post-race fun, including a vibrant bubble foam area on the Town Green and an awards ceremony at approximately 7:30 p.m. As a qualifier for the prestigious Peachtree Road Race, the Leprechaun-a-thon offers runners a chance to display their speed and spirit.
“We always enjoy putting on the Leprechaun-a-thon race and walk and getting to see so many people come out and participate in a fun, family, outdoor event,” said Todd Wofford, RFPRA Director. “We’d also like to thank Atrium Health Floyd for sponsoring this race. We are looking forward to seeing everyone come out in their green costumes and enjoying the post-race foam on the Town Green.”
