Man charged with aggravated assault
A Rome man is accused of assaulting a woman at his Hawk Spring Drive home on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Jonathan Kameron Penn grabbed a woman by the neck and strangled her in front of two children, causing a visible scratch.
He also pulled the victim’s hair.
During his arrest, Penn refused to get into the police vehicle and had to be forced inside.
He is charged with aggravated assault, simple battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, obstruction of officers, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Report: Man tossed gun during police pursuit
A man arrested last week on charges of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempting to elude after he reportedly shot at another vehicle and then fled from police is facing an additional charge of tampering with evidence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
70-year-old Randy Wallace McClure tossed a gun out of the window of his truck after he used it to commit a crime.
He threw the gun as he was being pursued by police.
Four charged with maintaining a disorderly house
Four people were arrested at a home in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood over the weekend on charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a disorderly house.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
There was liquid meth in the home and the occupants were causing disturbances in the neighborhood by causing domestic altercations.
27-year-old Lauren Ruth Cromer is facing an additional charge of exploitation of intimidation of the elderly because she was responsible for the care of an elderly person who was living in the home in deplorable conditions.
Three other residents of the home were also arrested–34-year-old Christopher Lloyd Rhoten, 43-year-old Heather Danielle Jones, and 39-year-old Jonathan William Eugehe Cromer.
Man charged with felony obstruction, interference with government property
A Fort Payne, Alabama, man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly fought with and threatened police officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
18-year-old Knowledge Justice Moore resisted two officers as they were attempting to arrest him at a location on Tamassee Lane in West Rome.
A taser holster and a radio microphone belonging to the Rome Police Department were damaged in the scuffle.
Moore is charged with felony obstruction and interference with government property, as well as misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and acts and theft by shoplifting.
Man arrested on drug charges
A man from Glennville, Georgia, was arrested on drug charges over the weekend on Blacks Bluff Road at the Lock and Dam.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Coty Allen Stevenson was in possession of two oval-shaped pills believed to be oxycodone, over an ounce of suspected marijuana, and a baggie of small bills of currency totaling $296.
Stevenson is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of drugs not in the original container.
Woman facing drug charges following traffic stop
An Armuchee area woman was arrested on drug charges near her Martha Berry Highway residence over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Wanda Michael Nelson was found with suspected methamphetamine in her pants pocket during a search prior to her arrest.
She was also found to be driving under the influence of multiple substances.
Nelson is charged with possession of meth, DUI, open container, driving with a suspended or revoked license, operation of a vehicle without a current license plate, and a headlight violation.
Nelson is also being held for the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office on unspecified charges.
