On Tuesday, the Floyd County Police Department moved into its new headquarters, located at the former Glenwood Primary School off Old Dalton Road.
According to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord, the move has been a long-time coming, and will provide much-needed additional space for the police Department.
“We still have a few departments yet to be totally moved, but hopefully by the end of this week, they will be moved, and we look forward to having them in their new home.”
Another project that is nearing completion is the new Georgia Department of Driver Services facility.
“It’s built as far as the shell of the building goes,” McCord said. “It’s starting to look great, and not a moment too soon. It’s something that is needed desperately in this community. We are still looking at a November or December completion date on that.”
The 4,057-square-foot building will be located behind the current 1,500-square-foot facility on Martha Berry Highway.
Officials broke ground on the new building in July of last year.
