Peter Hubbard wins Democratic PSC Primary, advances to face GOP incumbent in November

Peter Hubbard has won the Democratic primary in the Special Election for Georgia Public Service Commissioner (PSC), defeating Keisha Sean Waites with 58.18% of the vote.

The final tally, confirmed at 11:01 p.m. on Tuesday, showed Hubbard receiving 66,084 votes statewide to Waites’ 47,501 (41.82%).

In Floyd County, turnout was extremely low. Only 488 ballots were cast out of 61,774 registered voters—just under 1% participation. Of those who did vote locally, 60.66% supported Hubbard.

With this primary victory, Hubbard will move on to the November general election to face Republican incumbent Fitz Johnson.

The Georgia Public Service Commission regulates utilities across the state, including setting rates and overseeing services provided by Georgia Power.
