A Rome man was among 12 people arrested following a three-day operation aimed at identifying and apprehending child predators.
“Operation Phantom Whisper” was a collaboration between the Cherokee County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office and federal, state, and local agencies.
The suspects, including 33-year-old Jonathan Wayne Brian Brackett of Rome, were arrested and charged with various felony crimes.
According to a news release:
11 of the 12 suspects traveled to locations in Cherokee County with the alleged intent of engaging in sexual activity with someone they believed was a 14-year-old girl.
During the operation, Internet Crimes Against Children investigators “chatted” online and posed as underage girls.
Meet locations were agreed on, and when the suspects arrived, they were arrested.
