Friday is “Peach Day” at the Georgia’s Rome Farmer’s Market.
“This is one of our biggest markets of the year,” said Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “We are located across from Applebee’s and we are doing Peach Day with the Kiwanis Club. If you order them in advance—and a ton of people do—you can pick them up there in the parking lot of the Visitor’s Center. If you didn’t order them in advance, they should have some additional peaches on hand, but make sure you get there early.”
The Farmer’s Market opens at 9 a.m.
“Berry Farms is going to be out there with their meats and cheeses,” Kent said. “We’ll have Third Day Horticulture back out there, along with Overflow Coffee, tons of vendors, and of course, Nan will be out there with her produce. The fire department is going to be out there, and Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful is going to be out there. They have a brand new coloring book for kids. It like an activity book, featuring ‘Croakey’, their mascot.”

Also, this weekend, on Saturday, a fun event is taking place in Downtown Rome—a special screening of the cult classic film, The Big Lebowski.
“RIFF is hosting that screening, and it’s a fundraiser for the Rome International Film Festival at the DeSoto Theatre,” Kent said. “That takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday, and they are encouraging people to wear costumes. Bring your bowling gear, and bring your rug. If you haven’t seen the movie, you need to see it, and that will explain it all.”
Tickets are on sale at riffga.com.
