Reports: Sawed-off rifle, suppressors found during execution of a search warrant
Two West Rome men were arrested on illegal firearms charges on Tuesday following the execution of a search warrant at their Wallace Street residence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
24-year-old Thomas Arnoldo Lopez-Muralles and 28-year-old Luis Marcello Lopez-Muralles were found with a sawed-off rifle and two suppressors without having proper legal documentation.
Both men are each charged with three felony counts of possession of a sawed-off shotgun, sawed-off rifle, machine gun, dangerous weapon, or silencer.
DNA helps nab burglary suspect
A Rome man has been arrested in burglaries that occurred on Excelsior Street in December 2023 and January 2024.
According to the warrants:
48-year-old Christopher Shawn Jackson entered a building belonging to the WinShape Foundation and took various items.
Jackson left behind a Coke can that was later submitted to the GBI for DNA analysis, which confirmed his presence at the scene.
Jackson is charged with two counts of 2nd –degree burglary.
