An Armuchee High School student was killed in a two-vehicle wreck involving a motorcycle on Thursday.
According to the Georgia State Patrol:
At 4:18 PM, Troopers were dispatched to Dry Creek Road in Chattooga County.
During the investigation, it was determined that 15-year-old Elijah Andrew Espy was operating a red Honda XR400 motorcycle, traveling north on Dry Creek Rd.
A black Tesla S was traveling south on Dry Creek Road.
The Tesla slowed and made a left turn into a driveway, which caused the motorcycle to strike the right passenger door.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to become separated from the motorcycle and come to rest on the west shoulder of Dry Creek Rd.
The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries on scene.
Troop A SCRT was notified and arrived on scene for their investigation.
The driver of the Tesla was not injured.
Armuchee High School released the following statement on Friday:
“Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of one of our own. Yesterday, tragedy struck our Armuchee community once again, claiming the life of one of our students.
This morning, our AHS family came together to support one another, with counselors available for any student or staff member who needs additional help during this difficult time.
While today has been incredibly heavy for our students, staff, and community, the love, compassion, and strength within the Armuchee family continue to shine through.
Our scheduled pep rally has been postponed as we take time to grieve and care for one another.
Please continue to keep this student’s family, friends, and our entire community in your thoughts and prayers.”
