WWII-era grenade found in Bartow County subdivision

Residents of The Cliffs Subdivision in Euharlee were told to stay inside their homes Thursday afternoon due to the discovery of a grenade from World War II.

A crew cleaning the home of a deceased man found the grenade while cleaning the home.

They called 911, and the Floyd County Bomb Squad was called in to clear the scene.

Euharlee Chief of Police, Jody Matthews, says the grenade was not active; however, it was destroyed.

There were no injuries.

The incident started around 1 p.m. and ended just before 3 p.m.
