Two arrested during a traffic stop
A traffic stop on Martha Berry at the connector ended with the arrest of two people on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 63-year-old Debra Lynn Collins of Silver Creek was stopped for failure to maintain a lane.
Following a K9 indication, a THC vape and an alprazolam prescription, not issued to Collins, were seized from the vehicle.
Collins is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
A passenger in the vehicle, 40-year-old James Franklin Madrie Jr., also of Silver Creek, was found with methamphetamine packaged for sale and a glass pipe with residue.
He is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
Man accused of threatening a police officer
A Rome man was arrested on North Broad Street on multiple charges, including terroristic threats and acts.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
47-year-old Jeffrey Darshun Elkins was drunk in a public place.
He then threatened violence against a police officer if he ever saw the officer out of uniform.
Once at the jail, Elkins was found with suspected marijuana.
He is additionally charged with crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and public drunk.
