A new arena football team was announced in Downtown Rome.
The new “Rome Red Cats” were announced on Tuesday morning within the new teams new home at The Forum in Rome. Speaking at the press conference was team Co-owner Kacey Smith and Head Coach James Moreland.
At the event, the two announced that the season will be beginning in April, with half of the games the team will be playing being played at The Forum.
Arena Football is a smaller, more condensed game of typical American Football. With teams of 8 facing off against each other on a field about the size of a Hockey Rink. The team will initially train outside of Rome, closer to Atlanta, with plans to begin training at The Forum as soon as the field is ready to be used inside of the facility.
At the press conference, Smith expressed excitement for the future of the team. Wanting to plug into the community as fast as possible. When asked about the viability of the team within the Rome area, they expressed their excitement and eagerness to use newer avenues to help keep the team going. Such as live streaming and a digital screen inside of the new stadium.
Season tickets are planned to be sold. Individual game ticket prices are planned to be $10 for standard seating and $20 for seating on the field. With tickets planned to be sold for suite seating with no price announced yet.
