Man charged with child cruelty
A Fouche Gap Road man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday on a felony count of 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to the arrest warrant:
39-year-old Richard Bryan Underwood struck a child on the buttocks and thighs with a belt, causing excessive bruising.
The child also had bruising on her face, arms, and back.
The incident occurred on November 1, 2025, at a residence on Surrey Trail.
Woman accused of failing to pay for roofing work
A Silver Creek woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with theft of services.
According to the warrant:
38-year-old Stevie Lynn Lawson contracted with a roofer to do work at her Wax Road residence in September of last year.
The work was completed, but Lawson failed to pay the remaining balance of $8,190.
Man arrested on meth possession warrant
A West Rome man was arrested at his Williamson Street residence on a felony warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine.
According to the warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Jose Clemente Ambris-Cornejo was found in possession of meth while at the Pinecrest Motel on Martha Berry Highway on September 26.
He was also found with a glass smoking device with drug residue and another smoking device.
Ambris-Cornejo is additionally charged with possession of drug-related objects.
Man charged with meth possession
A Bartow County man was arrested on Callahan Street in Rome on Wednesday and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Alexander William Beam of White was found with a crystal-like substance believed to be meth.
