One of Downtown Rome’s most well-known buildings appears to be getting a new lease on life.
On Monday, the Rome City Commission approved a resolution supporting a $250,000 Downtown Development Revolving Loan Fund loan for the redevelopment of 330 Broad Street, known locally as the Partridge.
The loan will help with the renovation of the former Partridge restaurant into a new music venue.
“The DDRLF is a program that is administered by Georgia’s Department of Community Affairs,” said Rome City Manager Sammy Rich. “The intent is to simply encourage redevelopment, and so, for historic downtowns like Rome, it’s the perfect opportunity. It’s an exceptional project and an exceptional redevelopment of one of our downtown landmarks that will ultimately convert this into something more akin to the Georgia Theater in Athens.”
As a Georgia Main Street city, Rome qualifies for a 2% interest rate, with repayment over 15 years.
